Just testing out various things…and now I see you’ve commented.

Basically,I’m walking through the WordPress wiki from start to finish, just to get a good feel for what I’m working with.

Still not sure exactly how this is all going to look by the end of the holiday, but there’ll definitely be some changes!

  • why not knock out the theme first? I miss it….

Yeah, that’s going to be the main focus for the evening. First I want to get my plugins and templates together and edit them a bit,so I thought it would be easiest to do with the default theme.

Basically, what I’m going to shoot for a clean, modern design (think of most computer-related magazines) with a slightly literary bent. 3-column layout, title at top with a logo/avatar. Colors will probably be a light and dark shade of blue,a celery/lime green, and orange for titles/important text.

I’m down for any ideas you may have, and help is appreciated as always, especially since this is my first time ’round.

  • well, you know I’m a coder so uh…I would have to say it wouldn’t be a bad idea to say “I want this theme, with this other theme’s colors, this layout from another theme and uh…this picture over here. ” :-P

    In that case…”Stand by,palms down!”

I’ll get my linkies together for the theme/layout,figure out the exact colors, and e-mail the specs to you for coding.

Eventually I want to learn how to do this on my own,but thinking about it,it’ll probably be easier (not to mention more time efficient) to have you do it this time round, and I can acquire my skills from tinkering and reading the book you recommended. Which means I should go to B&N after I get my act together….
